I gained a transfer with my company (from the UK to Mexico) and arrived in Monterrey, Mexico in August 2008 to start my new life. It was a daunting experience as I had never spoken Spanish before and my company only gave me two months to learn it to a competent level (reading, writing, listening and speaking), this was quite an ambitious challenge I can tell you! I needed complete focus with dedicated support if I was ever going to be able to achieve my goals. When my company and I were researching suppliers we found that The Spanish Language Center offered a sound approach to learning but with the added benefit of a highly personalized approach. And you know in reality, everyone at the school always smiles and persevere with the stressful times that complement intensive or, non-intensive language learning. The schools facilities were also very good (just the right size) and there was a good mix of students from housewives, children, company directors to young executives like myself.

I can honestly say that I never actually thought I would be truly 'fluent' after this period of tuition. After the two months I could read, write, listen and speak to people in Spanish, but most importantly, I understood the grammatical make-up of the language along with a very good business and day-to-day vocabulary which was vital for my integration into the local community and environment. After the initial two months, the most important part for me was to experience the language first hand with minimal support. Five months on, and with greater confidence in my ability, I am shocked with how good my progress has been and my level of competency. The school certainly surpassed all of my expectations and I definitely exceeded my learning objectives. Thanks to the teachers of the Spanish Language Center my transition into a new life in a new country, and consequently to my new job, was made very comfortable and successful. Their level of expertise, training methods, support materials, dedication and personal approach made what I consider to be the hardest thing I have ever done in my life, possible.

And so, it is with great pride in our achievements that I can honestly recommend The Spanish Language Center as a preferred training provider to anyone who is coming to Monterrey who needs to learn Spanish either quickly or at their own pace.

When I started taking classes at the Spanish Language Center, I already knew some Spanish that I had learned a few years ago during another stay in Mexico. Therefore my goal was mostly to review some of the grammar again, to correct my mistakes and finally understand what I didn't get before. Also I wanted to learn more vocabulary and become more fluent in conversations again.

Since the Spanish Language Center offers the possibility to study in individual classes, I had a teacher all to myself who focused completely on my personal needs. I found this a very efficient and fast way to learn. Another advantage was that the teacher was very flexible as far as our schedule, so that I could study whenever and as long as it was right for me.

We used different materials (books, copies of magazines, internet pages, CDs, video tapes and more) which made the lessons and the homework always interesting, varied and current. I really enjoyed my time at the Spanish Language Center.

I want to thank the kind and patient of teachers and wish all of them lots of luck and success in the future.

The approach of the school is very much an immersion in the language. As you walk through the door on your first day, everything is in Spanish. The teachers speak English, but they will do all that they can to encourage speech in Spanish. The classes are very conversational with the aim of encouraging you to speak more and with added confidence.

The school is very flexible with its students in terms of pace of learning and class times since they work around our everyday work responsibilities.

I would strongly recommend this school to anybody coming to Monterrey whether they wish to start Spanish for the first time or merely improve their Spanish.

Yo soy brasileña y viví en México por dos años. Cuando llegué, no hablaba nada de español. Era muy difícil, pues a pesar de comprender un poquito, no sabía hablar y escribir era un misterio. Empecé a tomar clases con Irma, una de las maestras del Spanish Language Center, que con inmensa habilidad y simpatía, me enseño el idioma español. Siempre puntual y atenta, Irma fue más que una maestra, nos volvimos amigas. Muy exigente, me corregía siempre y me hacía superar mis dificultades con el acento y la estructura del idioma. Las personas con quien platicaba siempre me decían que yo hablaba muy bien el español y no me creían cuando yo les decía que llegué a México sin conocer el idioma.

Después de un año y medio estudiando, presenté en examen del Instituto Cervantes de España y logré alcanzar el nivel avanzado del dominio del idioma español. Yo estoy muy agradecida con Irma y con Spanish Language Center, pues hoy puedo decir, con orgullo y seguridad que sí, hablo español.
